2013 downshifted to 1st at 65 mph!!
I bought my 2013 F150 EB new in 2012. About 80K on it now. Last week driving to work it down shifted several times at 40 mph. felt like it DS at least a couple gears.
Driving home that afternoon I'm cruising down the freeway at 65. Out of nowhere the wheels locked up and the truck skidded for a sec.
I noticed the speedometer dropped to 0 like a complete loss of power, but I never lost power. It was a very violent jerk and my neck was sore.
Called Sill Terhar dealer, where I bought it from. They said Ford doesn't have a fix for the 2013 yet but to bring it in. They mentioned that while the recall for the 2013's aren't out yet, my truck was made in 2012, so they would do a recall under that year. So they reset the transmission programming.
Next day the downshift happened twice but at lower speeds (30mph). Called them back up and they said they would need to do a diagnostic and it wouldn't be covered under the recall.
I'm worried about driving it.. and that one high speed DS has me terrified. I'm also worried about any damage that could have happened or premature wear that's been done.
Looking to the forum on recommendations I take to get this taken care of. I did file a case with Ford, but they couldn't help with with really anything.
Thank you

If it's a bad lead frame the TSB re-flash won't fix it. I had the same problem with my 2014.

100% it's the output speed sensor (OSS) in the transmission leadframe going bad.
The reflash that comes out in a few months is supposed to help fix the issue from a software perspective. The correct way to fix it now would be to replace the leadframe.
Had it done a few months ago on my 2013 with the same issue......

Thanks for the replies and recommendations fella's.
I took it to a local shop (not dealer) and they diagnosed a bad lead frame as well. $821 later and she drives like a champ.
Am guessing this isn't something the recall would cover or could get Ford to reimburse, I just needed it fixed.
Anyhow, this thread helped my local shop concur the issue (they couldn't get it to downshift test driving). I wanted to say thanks for the help!

There is a recall out for this issue. If you go to a dealer they can put the VIN in and confirm. Two friends at work with an 11 and a 13 both received recall notices for their trucks on this exact issue.

Ya I know. I ran the vin# for the hell of it and it wasn't part of the recall. Fortunately the lead frame was replaced under warranty. Build date was 11/2013. Looks like they should expand the dates of affected trucks. However, the recall (TCM reflash) wouldn't have fixed my truck anyway.
