Hoping someone can help me out.
Reason for me to be here is I purchased a 2013 super clean 130 K miles truck with the 5.4 and I have the P0019 code - replaced the Cam Sensor and the VVT. It's looking like It will need the timing chains phasers tensioners.....This is beyond me.
Does anyone have a recommended automotive mechanic that can do this service without paying dealer ship prices??
Help please this truck looks brand new and drives perfect

2013 came with the 3.5 or 5.0 not the 5.4

Hey looking for info on replacing the Timing Change, phazors, tensioners.....All ford will say $5000 estimate.
This is ridiculous.
I searched - 14 hours by the book and less than $400 in parts.

 

That's if everything goes smooth.

I got quoted 5500 cdn. Back in January.
With the upgrades, and other components my bill would be at 4500.

 

Labor costs are the killer on these kind of jobs.

Thought i was buying a good vehicle - it's just so clean and drives good....justout of the blue has no power and will no idle.
New VVT, Cam Sensor - permanent P0019.

I'm retired and don't have that kind of money.
I just thought iit would be a good vacation car....it doesn't matter.

 

First mistake, you bought a 12 year old vehicle, expecting it to run like a new one from the dealership.

The 5.4 aren't bad, just like every vehicle, it has quirks and history. My old 07 expedition is still driving has 200k miles on it. 65k miles supercharged.

Wasted good money on a Ford which should not have these issues.
2nd Mistake and I hope Ford monitors this Forum..... I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD.

I sold it for a loss - and bought Chev Suburban LT, unfortunately I have a payment now.
