Default Looking for Advice...

I'm looking at a 2008 F-150 Crewcab with 102,000 miles. Asking price is $24,000. I had a 1993 Ford and my last to pickups have been Chevys.. I'm ready to go back to a Ford. Anyone have any comments on the 5.4 and the 2008 F-150 in general (pros and cons).

Also, I've been reading on the eco-boost engines. Do you all feel the 6-cylinder with the eco-boost will be as durable as the 5.4 8 cylinder....would I get as many miles out of it and would there be plenty of power? I'm not a real car buff.....just looking for a good rugged pickup for hunting and fishing.....

that price could be good or high just depends on the truck. is it lariat, xlt, king ranch, etc? and what all options does it have? just check the blue book value on it at kbb.com and go by that.

and the 5.4 is a solid engine, i like it in my truck. i don't try to be a speed demon or tow huge amounts, its just a daily driver so it does everything i need it to. the ecoboost will get better mileage and tow more but that's because its a newer engine and was designed for that.

Sounds like it is priced to high what is it f150 lariat? King ranch. I would not pay more than 17,000 for it. Due to the high mileage.

Yeah, that's way high... I got my '05 King Ranch in a 9 out of 10 condition with 59k on the clock for 17k.

It's a Lariat Fully loaded...... back up camera, heated seats, 4X4, etc... Ya, the Blue Book lists it at around $18,000 so they are pretty high.. I'm more interested in how this truck is mechanically and how the 5.4 compares to the new eco-boost 6 cylinder engine than the price... I can always negotite and/or look for something somewhere else... Just trying mostly to figure out which way to go at this time... Thanks.

I think you can do better. On Fords Pre Owned site, for example there's an 07 red sup. crew
with 60,563 miles for $21,977. Not saying I'd buy an 07 I'm just showing there's other options out there.

yeah that's really high then. is it a stealership selling it?

and its tough to compare a 5.4 to an ecoboost. they're both different monsters. if its been kept up right the 5.4 is a great engine. depends alot on what you're willing to pay too. the price difference in that 08 and a 11 or 12 ecoboost is pretty huge.
