2011 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. Interchangeable with 3.7?

Unfortunately the timing chain went in my 2011 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. I would like some info regarding if it’s possible to swap in a 3.7 Engine in the place of the 3.5.
as there Is quite the price difference between the two engines. Any info on interchangeable issues regarding fitment, fuel requirements, electrical/wiring would be greatly appreciated.

By the time you're done with the harness changes, ECU changes, and everything else involved with swapping engines in a modern vehicle you'd be far, far more in the hole financially than if you just swapped in another ecoboost.

While the two engines share much of the same engineering, the items not shared are significant and affect engine management. If the heads aren't damaged (wishful), you may only need a short block, but that will cost more in mechanic's cost for assembly.

Only way to know what would need to be done is to scope the engine to see if there is interference damage. Chances are that the only thing needed is a valve job to replace a couple bent valves. Depends on when the chain went and at what RPM. If it went at idle, then chances are high the engine can be repaired without a full blown overhaul or replacement.

Thank you for the input, I will stick with replacing it with the original 3.5 I haven’t disassembled the engine to determine how much damage was done as of yet. The engine turns over freely (free spooling). With no valve movement. So it’s obvious the chain has broke, was running very rough and would barely carry itself prior to breaking.
All initiated by towing a trailer.

If you tear it down, get some pics of the back of the intake valves. MAY inquiring minds want to know.

it actually did break at idle, I was parked and shut the engine off. When I went to start it again and the engine just free spoiled with no valve movement. I have to dig deeper to determine what repairs need to be done. So I’d have to scope inside the cylinders to determine any piston to valve contact to eliminate any possible damage that may have been done. Maybe get away with just the timing chain upgrade

I also would love to see photos of the intake valves.
