Default 2011 F-150 FX4 Front Wheel Brake Calipers

Question:
I recently changed my rotors and brake pads on my Ford F-150 FX4.
The caliper guide pins are clean, with fresh grease.
However I noticed that when I tighten the caliper bolt to the caliper pins, the caliper itself tends to be stuck in place.
You should typically have some play, being able to wiggle back and forth the caliper itself.
As you know, this allows the caliper to adjust to the brake pad thickness as it slowly wears down.
However, it just seems that when I tighten the bolts to the pins, that the caliper gets stuck in place.
There is no play at all, and no slight movement back and forth like there should be.
The pins are not bent.
Everything is clean.
Now if I loosen both the caliper bolts just about 1 full turn, then the caliper itself slides back and forth like you would expect.

Second weird thing:
With the new rotors and brake pads on this wheel, I see that the brake pad seems to only make contact from the outer edge of the rotor to about 1/2 inch in towards the center.
Like the brake pads are not flush with the rotor.

Maybe they are related?

Maybe the caliper is warped or bent?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

Kev

You put the pads in backwards. The pads are inner and outer specific. They are swapped. This problem comes up once a week on here

Thanks, but no.
I took the wheel back off and they are in correctly.
PLUS, you can clearly see the back of the pad in the picture which also proves they are in correctly.

I do appreciate your response, but I think something is warped...

Thoughts??

How does that prove they are in correctly? The inboard pads have ears. The outboard pads don't. If they are swapped they do exactly what you have pictured.

From the service manual. Notice the "ears" for the inner pads. If they are in place of the outer pads they won't contact the rotor fully

Why do people ask a question on a forum about an issue they are having, get really good suggestions on a possible cause, then turn around and say with an attitude you are wrong?

Anyways, looks like mbullock hit the nail on the head

Ha ha.
Sorry.
Didn't mean to offend.
I'll switch them anyway.
Hey, learning something new every day.
Thanks everyone...

Thanks again everyone.
Just checked again, and looked specifically for that.
You are correct.
I have never noticed those ears before.
I was just lucky in the past.

Also, before, when you said that they were backwards, I thought you meant that the pad portion was on the outside, and the metal backing was on the inside.
I see now you meant inner and outer pads were reversed...

No offence taken. I should've been more clear. Glad it's sorted out
