Default 2010 F150 no sound out of speakers

Hi all I am new to this. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I own a 2010 F150 SCREW fx4. Recently my sound has stopped working. The mute button is not pushed or stuck. When you turn the radio on whether it be Sirius or am/fm, doesn't matter what setting. But when you turn it on you here a little bit of crackling coming out of the speakers but no noise. Has anyone had this issue I'm curious if it's the head unit or something else. Thanks in advance.

I have that problem with a couple of my speakers. I thought the stock speakers were bad, so I replaced all of them with some nice Polk components. They sounded great until I drove the truck and they started crackling every time I hit a bump. Now the front and rear lh side speakers are off again and the front right is crackling.

From what I've found from searching around, the speaker wiring harnesses in the doors have poor connections and eventually can cut out completely. I've been too lazy to pull my door panels back off and screw around with the wiring. My truck mostly sits these days, so I forget about the speakers until I'm driving it again.

I'm not 100% convinced that's the problem though. My speakers would fizzle and crackle, sounding exactly the same on both fronts at the same time. Mine might be head unit related.

Lightbulb

1) HINT/TIP: You'll find posting in the
Late Model F150s > 2009 2014 Ford F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.
.

2) Gen'12 speaker issues are common and there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) regarding it..

Our 2010 Lariat crew has had an intermittent speaker on the driver side since the truck was new. Have the Sony upgrade sound system. Dealer replaced the speaker and that did not fix the problem. It still happens. Found that rotating the volume **** back and forth will fix the symptom. Checked on the TSB and our truck was from the Kanas City plant, so is not covered. Not sure why that would be, unless there are several vendors for the harness and problem is related to the harness or assembly, but I would venture the speaker problem is not unique to Dearborn build.

Front driver sometimes works. Two rear have stopped working completely. Will the tbs cover this on a truck with 93,000 miles.

Your problem is different that the TSB if your rear speakers are not working. You should read the TSB details. The TSB does not mean it would be covered once you are beyond your factory warranty, but should be covered if you have an ESP warranty that is still in effect. A TSB is not a recall, just a Technical Service Bulletin.
