2010 f150 fuel filter
I have a 2010 f150 whose fuel mileage went from 17 -14 mpg seems like overnight.i went to parts store to get a fuel filter and they gave me an inline filter. There is a big rectangle black box on the frame where the fuel filter usually is. Any clue where this inline filer is and what this black box is?

When I took my 2010 to the dealer I told them while it was there change the fuel filter.
When I went to pick it up the service guy said the fuel filter is IN the gas tank and can not be changed.

Could be a number of things. Check air filter, see if it's dirty. If so, replace it. If it was filthy, check the throttle body and clean it. Reset KAM/PCM. Check tire air pressure. Also I don't know where you are, but the cold weather affects MPG negatively. Keep in mind we're using winter blend fuel now, too, which hurts MPG

The box is the charcoal canister for the evap system, the fuel filter is one piece with the fuel pump inside the tank and is not serviced separately.
