Hello Gale;

The only consideration for installation is the attachment the dipstick tube upper bracket to the firewall. The kit includes 2 self taping stainless steel screws that, in my case, easily allowed for the bracket to firewall attachment.

As for filling, too date I've used a capless gas cap funnel to add a bottle of Transmedic, which is something I do to all my vehicles every year. The dipstick tube inside diameter is roughly 1/2" so there are certainly other funnels available but regardless of which one you use I suggest a slow fill rate due to the standing height of the dipstick tube. The exception of course is if you have a pump with the fill tube fully inserted into the dipstick tube.

If I can assist with any other questions let me know.

If the inside dia. of the tube is 1/2" or close, that's probably doable as a fill tube. Not speedy but doable. When the spring gets here I'm going to do fluid & filter on the 13, and probably throw a new lead frame harness in there while I'm at it. Maybe I'll put the dipstick tube in at that point.

Hi PerryB;

I have a good quality hand pump that screws into the top of an ATF jug that I will use to fill the trans at the next pan drop. I've previously used this pump with a 30" fill line so don't anticipate an issue with being able to fill my trans in a reasonable amount of time. However even if I had to fill it with a standard funnel...it might take a bit of time but I find working on my truck to be quite relaxing.

Like yourself, I'm most interested in a dipstick tube that will work as a fill tube also. So far, no such luck. You'd bee all day trying to refill a 6R80 through that small tube.
Some designer needs a serious flogging for what they did....
I was concerned about that for refilling. To do a bucket flush with 6R80 with the ATF thermostat I found the transmission will pump out the pan empty out of the return line and I can use a $13 12 volt pump to refill through the same line. I guess the ATF thermostat is acting as a diverter or something. I did it twice last summer before I got rained out getting out about 9 quarts total of some very dark brown ATF. This summer I plan to do a full removal of the current ATF and just keep the add on spin on changed adding new ATF to the new filter from time to time. After 3 filter changes the ATF out of the old filter is starting to get clear enough to pass a little light and have a hint of red in color. I got the truck showing 205K miles with no service history.

I think online from Amazon or Summit Racing the base was about $20. I took the one running down to OEM tow package cooler to the filter base and bought a short piece to go from the filter base to the aux cooler. There is little to no flow in the winter I have found.
