Default 2009 F150 Platinum used 108K 4x4

Looking at this truck...anything I should be aware of? New to Ford and need a used truck and this one came up and is priced right.
I read about tranny issues and spark plugs with the 5.4...but other than that, they seem pretty reliable for everything I have read.

I’d get a 2011 or newer with the 5.0 over the 5.4.

How much is the truck?

You don't say where the truck is located - rust belt or sun belt - but I traded my low, low mileage 2009 5.4 due to extensive rust both on the frame and cross-members under the box and more importantly, on the oil pan. The oil pan was so rusted that bits were flaking off, and a local independent mechanic figured that it needed replacing. Sure enough, the dealer to whom I traded it changed the pan before selling it. The 2009 seemed to have little protection or deflection in front of the pan. Otherwise, it was a solid and comfortable truck, but thirsty.

If the '09 that you are looking at has fresh-looking paint on areas of the frame, etc, it might be a cover-up.

I still say get a 2011 or newer with the 5.0. 5.4 is known to have plenty of issues and who knows how it was previously maintained.

Ok - sounds good. Now that you warned me, I did a search on this site and found out about all the issues with the cam phasers, etc. with the 5.4. I just went thru
that with my 2010 Caddy 3.6L. I want no part of that and am trying to find a truck 4x4 that does not have this issue....Im even leary of the ecoboost motors eventually.

thats why id recommend the 5.0. Even the 3.7 is very solid, though nowhere near as powerful. Stick with 2011+ and you won’t have to worry about the 5.4.
