Default 2009 F-150 Tire pressure sensors

I have a 2009 F-150 with 51k miles on it. Two of the tire pressure sensors do not work & I'm told the other two will be going out soon.
I'm told there is a small battery in the sensors that have a 8 to 10 year life.
My question is - is there a way to disable the sensors so I will not have to see the "Tire pressure failed" icon on the dashboard?

No there is not... TPMS is Federally mandated .. it would be like trying to defeat your airbags. Fix your sensors...

You can find replacement sensors online. If you look around I've seen them for as little as $15 each. The tire store I use will install them for $10 each. Or simply wait until you need new tires and the installation is free.

A lot of people misunderstand the purpose of the sensors and think they are a PITA. But they serve a purpose and may have saved my life a few years ago. They are not intended to replace an air gauge. Their purpose is to alert the driver of a rapid air pressure loss in a tire while driving at speed. In 2011 I was driving at 75 mph on a rural interstate when my warning light came on. I immediately slowed down and pulled to the shoulder. By the time I got out of the truck and walked around the right rear was completely flat. I'd run over something in the road that punched a 3/8" hole in the tread.

Without the TPMS sensor I'd have not known I had a problem until the right rear tire started coming apart at 75 mph.

We had been vacationing in Colorado when this happened in Oklahoma. I had plugs and a compressor. It took 3 plugs and I was able to limp to the next exit. It was near dark and we had planned to drive another 2 or so hours, but just got a room at that exit. I got up early the next morning and drove to a nearby tire store. The hole was too big to repair, but they did put my spare on for me.

I've been a believer in TPMS ever since.

Thanks for all the good info. The dealer wanted $125 each & the tire store wanted $60 each. Didn't want to spend that much to replace all four.
But If I can find them on the internet for $15 each & have them installed for $10 each. I think I'll do it.

Thanks again for the info... 125

I got mine from eBay for (4) $45, and a used tires shop installed for $20. Total for $65.
