Default Removing Decals on '06?

I just got a black '06, and I'm thinking about taking off the decals. Of course, I'm worried about shadowing.

I'm pretty sure that the background of the decal is clear, I don't see why it wouldn't be.. but who knows.. maybe they put a black b/g on the black trucks? Probably not.

Has anyone done this on an older truck? After 5 years, I'm sure the paint has faded at least a little bit.

Do you think it might even look good with the shadowing? I wouldn't mind if it still said 4x4 (in darker black), but I just don't want it in white. I'm gonna be blacking this biya up a bit.

Also, could I just peel it back a little to see, and stick it back on if it sucks, or will that not work?

Thanks!

Awesome I want to remove them on a 07 as well hopefully someone will have a answer. I think it is a clear sticker with white lettering and outline. I think we should be able to peel off and maybe wax it out? Lets see.

I believe they are vinyl stickers, a heat gun may loosen them up a bit. Then use goo-gone?

Yeah, I have read a lot that a hair dryer/heat gun will take them off, and goo gone will remove the residue.

I'm just hoping someone did this, and can say if it shadows bad or not, and if it does, if it looks stupid.

That, or if I can just peel it back a bit, have a look, and push it back on if it's crappy. If I don't get an answer I'll probably just do it tomorrow. Hell I'll probably just do it anyway. I'll post pics.

I took them off my black 07 scab. Used a heat gun to warm them up and just peeled it off with my hand. I used my fingernails to start it. A hair dryer will put out more then enough heat to get it done. I think I used rubbing alcohol to get the little bit of adhesive off(there wasn't much). I then used a cleaner wax, glaze and wax on the area. Also took of the dealer lettering on the tailgate off. You would never know it was there. Take your time. Worst comes to worst, a rubbing compound should get out any shadow.

Default Decal removal

I peeled the 4X4 off my 06 after it was in the sun all day . I replaced mine with an FX4 that looks a lot better . There was no resadue on mine but i did wipe it with alcohol.
