Default ordered the 2.7 Lariat

The ford site has had my truck in production for over week now. What is the usual time for "in Production" with a factory ordered f 150?

I drove about 60 miles and did Highway and local traffic and a few hard acceleration and highway pulls (60 to 80). Mileage for about 8 highway and 8 local (45 mph) roads was 24.7 on the trip computer, and I got 19.6 when pushing it. Acceleration is as good and maybe better then my 3.5 and both have the 3.55 rear ratio, I am sold, this is what I will order for the driving I do. Thanks for all the input.

Edit: Do check GVWR and payload

Neither of these makes any sense unless the 3.5 has s** tuning. 70ft lb tq (probably more within the torque curve) is significant enough to make a difference.

Hit up the youtube and the magazines and whoever else for the timed acceleration runs and races, the 2.7 is right there, stock vs stock. Why, I don't know.

I still went with 3.5 for the higher GVWR and future tuned gains, but if you could get the 2.7 payload package in a Lariat I may have done that. Or maybe I'd do 3.5 with HDPP which they'd probably offer in Lariat if they offered 2.7 PP there. Silly Ford.

well if gearing is the same as reported then they have to s**T on the factory tune. Why? Sure they got some bs reason. That said it would seem the 2.7 would satisfy the needs of the majority of buyers.

Given choice I would have gotten the 5.0 and slapped a blower on it..............but

That is very, very likely given the gains that even a moderate tune give the 3.5. Stock, my truck feels like it's just not trying. Tuned it becomes much more enjoyable.

I am strongly considering a tune now after I get it in for the stupid chain notice (entire reason i bought ext warranty). I started running 93 again and while the reported 15 hp / 10ftlb tq wouldn't really measure on the sotp meter, part throttle drivablity is noticeably improved.

93 is .60 a gallon higher here which i don't get. I was in BRoward last week and it was .40 diff but I am going to work at home one day a week which saves me 100 miles a day which based upon current fuel cost zero's out the increase in the 93 cost.

The performance gain is substantial. We're talking about darn near 100whp. I bought my last EB based on the ability to tune and did the same with this one.

This has been discussed on other posts. its taking 6-8 weeks on the west coast. It would depend on shipping time and how quickly the build starts. The shipping time on my truck was over 4 weeks. The dealer can give you updates on the trucks progress and location.
