1999 f150 vs 2005 f150 towing?
I have a 1999 f150 5.4 4x4 ext cab and by dad just got a 2005 f150 5.4 Fx4 Screw the disscussion we are having is which truck has a higher towing capability i think mine and he thinks that his does. I have not had the chance to take a look at the towing capatity of both truck but just simply by driving them both i feel like mine will do better. Both trucks are stock just that his has 33" tires. Let me know what yall think?
(Forgot to mention we both have the towing package)

His. Assuming the gars are the same and cab is same size. Not even close in how much more solid the 05 will feel towing. I owned both styles....

Looks like the maximum towing for any '99 F150 was listed at 8300 lbs.

Buuuuut it depends on how each truck is configured.
Even though the max for an '05 is 9900, my '05 FX4 Screw with the 3.55 rear is listed at 8200 lbs. So there's a chance that a properly configured '99 could "out pull" me.
Your extended cab 4x4 model is listed at 7700, though. And if he has the 3.73 gearing it looks like he has you beat by 1500 lbs.
