The only way I've been able to consistently display video on the site is to upload it to Youtube, then paste a link here.

This video shows that i found a totally gone rod bearing. Only one? Do you think i can replace it, or all of them from the bottom? wonder what the chances are that the crank isn't wasted..

Should look before i ask i guess, but it looks like no problem replacing all the rod bearings while i'm under there. But another question for anyone who may know how they wear. When i pick up a set of bearings, i can get stock, or .25MM oversize or .5MM oversize etc. There does not seem to be much play at all in the other 7, but they must have worn some at 109K miles. suggestions please

and the "bad" one was totally gone. nothing there to measure. The crank has some mild scarring that i will hit with some fine emery cloth. Must have caught it before any real damage was done.

i have now installed one rod bearing (the one that was totally gone) fired it up and it ran okay, but with what sounds like a rod knock to me. i had a thought that if i pulled spark plug coils one at a time and started the engine, would i get a significant change in the loudness of the knock? My thought is that since there is in effect no "power" stroke with all that pressure, the sound would change. Any thoughts ? Another thing that seems odd to me is that if i put a mechanics stethoscope on the block in various places, i can barely hear it. If i put the scope on a valve cover or even on the exhaust pipe it seems louder?
