The bike rides pretty solid the way it is. If I went down some bumpy roads I might look into that.

Bike is a 29" specialized Hardrock sport btw. Good balance of performance and price.

Nice looking bike...yeah I have a 29er as well..Marin mountain bike.

Yeah i decided that I had enough with destroying cheaper wal-mart bikes so I splurged and got a bike that is going to withstand my abuse and my body. Im 6'6" 230 lbs, so I needed a bike that wont break so easily. This one is doing exactly what I had hoped for and more.

How much is that Yakima Clamp on mount? I'd rather avoid drilling holes in my bed unless i absolutely have to..
Yeah same here...Ive also thought of doing some kind of fab work on a piece of 2x6 or 2x8 board that goes across the bed. A guy at the store where I bought my bike, REI, said that I could make a mount on top of the horizontal board and secure it that way. I believe my tailgate would have to be down but it sounded promising.

There's always the option of building the bike rack for the bed outta pvc pipe.

$54.

I just got a 2x10 and cut it to the width of my bed and added 2 mounts and 1 eyebolt in the center. i can run a lock cable from one bed tie down through frame, eye bolt, then to the next tie down. my bike was expensive when i got it but i refuse to pay for another one. im still sporting my trek 2300 pro road bike that is fully updated.

you can find the clamp bed rail mounts here. they have locking and non locking ones

This. And you can take it out of the truck and use it on the ground, too.
My son-in-law made one for his bike and truck. He tried it just putting the pieces together. After it kept coming apart, he put just a touch of glue on each fitting and it works great.
