Default 16 F-150 - Can a used remote be reprogrammed?

I want to add a 3rd remote and wanted to know if a used remote can be reprogrammed without bringing it to the dealer.

No, you need the dealer to wipe the key first.

Do you have a keyed ignition, or push button start?

If you have both original keys, and a new unlocked fob, meaning never been married to another vehicle, you can do it yourself. If it is a used one that has been married to another vehicle, the dealer will need to unlock it before it can be reprogammed as a replacement. Not all dealers know how to do this though, or have the equipment to do it, so you may need to make a few calls.

It's kind of like a tuner, you have to unmarry it to be able to reuse it.

As far as I know, the remote starter is all ready built into the computer, you need to purchase a key from amazon. Program it and enable the starter through the ForScan software.
