I called Action Truck Caps and an Autostart installed was about $450 + tax. Not sure which model... didn't ask
Canadian Tire had remotes on sale last week for $120 off reg price. Was gonna do it, but I was working and now sale is over. But ya know Canadian Tire..... wait long enough and everything goes on sale over and over again..

My Canadian brothers, no no no, do NOT let your stupid local dealership take you to the cleaners, and DON'T go aftermarket and let them hack and chop into your vehicle's wiring. Order the 100 series from Tasca Ford (right here on the forum, great prices). The part is about $200 shipped to Ontario, and includes 2 new keys with the built in start buttons and a tiny little antenna that plugs in under your glove box. It LITERALLY takes 37 secs to "install" it yourself. Its a simple plug in under the dash and that's it. From there you will just need to get those 2 new keys cut, then you can follow the instruction in your manual to program them yourself (again, another 2 minute job). From there, the last step of the process is for a Ford tech to plug into your truck, press about 5 or 6 buttons, choose "Remote start > ON" and you're done. If your dumbass dealer won't do it, call another dealership. Like I said, I found a shop that cut my keys for $5 cash and then turned on remote start for $45 (half hour shop rate); Bourgeios Motors in Midland, ON. Call around and don't let the dealers hose you. If you think Ford has a "warranty issue" with you plugging in your own remote antenna, I don't imagine they will be very receptive to an aftermarket upfitter cutting and splicing into your wiring harness.

I like how those slime-***** will try anything to talk you out of doing your own work. ""*MAY* be warranty issues". It's a Ford factory part; I don't think they would even clue in that a Ford remote start was installed by anyone other than the factory. There is no difference between you installing it or it rolling off the assembly line with it stock. If there was ever a problem and play dumb; "What are you talking about?? It's a Ford remote starter, came with my truck??" hahaha.

They didn't say. I just asked about a remote, he told me price and I said it was somewhat higher than aftermarket. I said I would think about it and maybe get back to him. After that the converstaion basically ended.

So, in NFLD, Action did it for $450?? Stay away from Canadian Tire. Even their kits that are in for $100 or so, will come to $500 installed. Stupid me bought one for our can years ago there and it took them close to a day to install, bypass kit and everything. Kit stopped working a year later. Mickey Mouse install by those guys. Geez I wish plug n play would work with 2010...,,wind chill is close to -24 Celcius here in PEI today!!
Thanx for the heads up about Canadian Tire. I wasn't really keen about letting them hack up my truck. This week CT has the 2 way 6 button remote on for $99. looks like a good deal, but need adapter...blah, blah
If I do go the CT route, I will be installing myself. But like I said, just tire kickin so far.
If Ford will do it for $500 and Action for $450, I will probably go the dealership.... for the sake of $50. That way, I can always go back and bitch if I get a dud. I know I can bitch anywhere, but CT or Action don't care to sell me a new truck either
-24C.... ouch. Only -10C or so here in Western NL...
But on the bright side... HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!

Yeah, sucks with no plug & play....it makes this venture a bit harder and more expensive.
