Here in Canada, I have a 2010 F150 and inquired with the dealer. You can't do the plug & play with 2010, but was told the factory kit would cost me around $500 installed. I opted out for now, but the price you were quoted for a 2012 seems close.

I think that is fairly reasonable for Canada. We get Canadian customers all the time and we are usually at least 50% cheaper then what the dealers up north charge.

Yes you are right. I am about a 45 min drive to NY State. I buy all of my cleaning supplies for my vehicles there for half the price. Not to mention a case of beer for a third of the cost here for the same brand. I have bought a lot of items from the states.

Do you need a passport for a day trip, just wondering with all the new changes.

I'm in Canada and my local stealership wanted like $650 + tax and needed the truck for 2 days to install remote start in my 2011 when I got it last January. I thought that was a little expensive and a little ridiculous for a time frame so when I pressed them on the details it turns out they were basically going to send my shop to an aftermarket outfitter to have a Viper type system installed. They didn't even know that a plug'n'play kit existed (actually they told me no such thing existed). When I gave them the part number they still wanted something crazy like $400 for the kit. I just bought mine from Tasca (find 'em in the Vendor section on this site; very helpful) for around $200 and had it shipped up here. I installed it myself with the included instructions (basically took 30 seconds for me to plug it in and you're done) then I took it back to the local dealership, where they cut the new keys for $5 cash. I then explained to them how they need to plug in to the computer and turn on the remote start feature...they stared at me blankly. I went back out to my truck, got the printed instructions (available on this very site) and gave them the instructions. They agreed to plug in and turn on the remote start for $45 (half hour shop fee; not bad considering it only took them 7 minutes to do the "work"). All in, I was about $275 for parts, labour, tax, shipping and maybe an hour of my time.

When it was all said and done they said "Well s#!t, that was easy! That's gonna save us a lot of time and effort on remote start installs!" haha.

Levit Town Ford I found has the 100 series for $176.00 + 19.99 s&h, so Im gonna order it from them and my dealer will do programming for $130.00! So for $336.00 sounds reasonable I guess
