Default Herculiner, anybody used it?

hey y'all I just got some new Carr hoop steps, and they are chrome but I'd like to paint em black and not have to worry about it chipping. I was thinking about using herculiner, any of y'all used it before? tips? opinions? anything better out there? any help would be appreciated.

yes its great but prep is key, you're supposed to scuff the paint so it has something to adhere to, you would have to put a good coat of paint on your steps first then scuff and bedline, we tried duplicolor bedliner on bare metal and it all flaked off, i imagine chrome would do the same

Did the rocker panels underneath the stainless steel add-ons three years ago. No chips, fading or peeling as of yet.
