Default 2010 breakdown, cam and timing chain

Hey guys would appreciate some suggestions for my unfortunate situation.

2010 f150 5.4 triton with 77k. Also has Saleen supercharger.
Just stranded me on the highway. Got towed to dealer for diagnosis. Loud clicking right before the breakdown, beyond the usual triton tick.
Ford said cam and timing chain and tensioner all messed up. $2700 for repair. If they see sludge when they open it up they will stop and suggest remanufactured motor $7200. Opened up and said it was clean and the cam came right out suggesting it didn't get mushroomed. So the quote is $2700 and gave them green light to fix.
They got it done fast, and when they started it back up it sounded great. Then pressed the accelerater and heard loud knock on the lower motor.
Now saying new motor.
I have not got the new quote yet, they said they are willing to work with me on the labor for the work already done. work done was $1700 parts, $1000 labor.
Didnt sound like they are willing to help with the parts. It was a brief call today during work. I did ask about resale of the parts but he wasn't sure. I feel that this dealer has treated me very good in the past and don't think they are out to get me right now. It's just a bad situation.
Just wondering what you guys think.
I love the truck and it's almost payed off in great shape.
Worth putting 7-10k into motor?
If I do that could I get all my parts out of the old motor before they send it back? Put the original destroyed parts back in so I could find a buyer for the nice ones? Assuming there is a core for an engine swap, lol. Don't really know never had to debate this.
I assume if I take it somewhere else they won't be working with me on the $2700 so that option hurts finding a cheaper motor somewhere and installing elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Except the ones that say buy a chevy. Haha

I probably would have used someone other than the Ford Dealer for the repair. Even if you like Ford Techs many moonlight at home and would have been much cheaper. I would likely have just found a good low mileage engine and swapped it.

I don't know what to say at this point. $7200 seems spendy for a reman but I realize a chunk of that is labor. It's just more than a new Coyote cost through a FRPP dealer Not much less than an Aluminator for that matter.

One year ago I had a similar problem with my 09 at 150,000 miles. I limped it to my local Ford dealer. $7500 for a Ford re-manufactured long block and a new intake manifold all installed. Your price sounds good. I could have saved about $1000.00 at an independent garage, but the waiting time to even get an engine from any re-manufacture other than Ford was 4 weeks. Also got a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty on the engine. Already have put 56000 miles on the new engine. To bad they talked you into fixing the old motor, everyone I talked to before I pulled the trigger to replace the engine advised against it. The big problem is the oil passages to the timing chain tensioners get gunked up, total engine disassembly is required to clean them.
