Trading in 2013 FX4 ECO-2016 FX4 Superduty Diesel??

Im looking at trading in my 2013 F-150 FX4 AUTO 3.73with 71,000km on a 2016 F-350 FX4 lariat AUTO 3.55with the 6.7 diesel. Both are Supercrew 6'1/2 vs 6'3/4 box size.

My question to you guys is about fuel milage just wondering what you guys are getting with the super duty diesel 4x4.

I'm at about 95% sure i'll make the final offer tomorrow. Just looking for some input from the owners.

I traded my 2013 F-150 5.0 Supercrew XLT 4x4 for a 2015 F-250 Supercrew FX4 6.7 with the 3.31 (couldn't find a leftover 15' with the 3.55), love the diesel and at the same time I miss my F-150. All in all I'm glad I swapped. On the 6hr drive home from picking mine up from the dealer I averaged 19.2. If you do a lot of in town driving and excessive idle you won't be happy (around 13-15) I average 16. On the flip side I only averaged 16 on my F-150, so in my opinion it's a wash, with way better towing capability and no more gear dropping (just chugs right up the hills). Now when it cleans the DPF with DEF your fuel mileage drops significantly (13-14) on the hwy, as soon as it's done your back up in the 17-19 on the hwy empty.

I traded in my 13 F150 Ecoboost for a 16 F250 gasser.. The MPG dropped significantly, but the power difference and handling capabilities are night and day from a 1/2 ton to 3/4.. We don't buy 3/4 tons for gas mileage. we buy them to haul sh*t LOL

Getting better everyday

I'm finding mine is at about 14.0 L/100, but I'm only on my first tank still...but when she's on the highway it gets better.
My ecoboost did about that same.
I just wish the super duty had the big tank like the ecoboost did-136 litre tank is nice

I'm sitting right at 15.9 on mine. I was at 14.4 on my 2015 3.5L ECOBOOST after I put a leveling kit and larger wheels and tires on it. The F250 is stock but on the first tank of gas it's already doing better.


I'm on my second tank now, about to fill up on the way home. I did a 2 hour round trip drive the other day and got almost 18MPG. In town I'm seeing 15MPG.

Well when I had the F350 Dually with 7.3, I was seeing 18 MPG with 4.10 gears. When I blew out the spider gears in the rear by doing a stupid wheel hopping burnout, I swapped in 3.73 gears and got near 20 MPG highway in it.

Of course this is with a free breathing unencumbered by particulate filters and DEF and EGR and all the other emissions crap that are on the new trucks, so YMMV. Gearing plays a large part with a diesel, the shorter the rear gears are, the higher the engine turns at a given speed, which burns more fuel. So if you are looking for a larger truck to get decent MPG, find one that turns 1800 or lower @ 60 MPG. Of course I am comparing a 7.3 with 4 speed to the new trucks, of which I have no idea what the final ratio is compared to what I drove.

Depending on the configuration you spec, the F-250/F-350 may have to end up with 3.55 gears or 3.31 gears. My configuration wouldn't allow for anything about 3.55.

I saw that. I tried to configure one and said WTF? Only 3.55 available for the diesel. I mostly did the build and price to see what a platinum and King Ranch go for after seeing 12 of them on trucks heading for Michigan. They were 2017 models though, but either way there were at least $650,000 worth of Superduties heading east.

Apparently this is only for the diesel trucks and all SRW's are this way. The duallies can get 4.30 gears but they can't get E-lockers.
