Default Possible F250 PSD Purchase; Please review

I've posted previously about my intentions to purchase either a 6.2 or 6.7 F250. I've driven both and decided the PSD is the way I need to go; take a look:

Below is a link to a 2015 F250 with 75k on the odometer. I've done my due diligence and here's what I've found:
  • Oasis report shows EGT sensor replacement and radiator replacement.
  • Carfax, attached, shows consistent F/O changes
  • I found info in the truck from original owner, I
spoke with him and sounds like he sold the truck since their first child is on the way, job changes, and owner was tired of high maintenance cost. Apparently, he drove throughout the country as a helo mechanic. The bed shows wear, scratches, and dents. I know he towed a 6klbs camper as well. Small scratches on the exterior, interior looks good. Recommended maintenance appears on schedule.

Engine Hours: 1847
Engine Idle Hours: 374

Truck needs a bedliner, tires, and could use a set of batteries. Current price is $37,900, I feel confident I can walk out with tires and batteries for $36,500. It's a southern truck, no rust or appearance of corrosion. She drives well, no weird noises, and tranny shifts strong.

I plan to fully delete the truck, add an intake, install Katzkin leather, Kenwood headunit, and LineX the bed.

Take a look, I'd like your thoughts and input before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advance!!

They're asking too much for an XLT in my opinion. I've seen Lariats with leather and navigation for the same asking price online. I have a 2015 F350 XLT and the exterior condition is about the same as what you described (some scratches/scuffs on the paint, dents in bed, needs bedliner, etc). Mine came with aftermarket running boards, brush guard, headache rack, mudflaps, and 5th wheel tailgate but didn't have any of the factory options except reverse sensors and a long (8ft) bed. This was a year ago and the mileage was only 55,000 and I walked out with it for only $36k. This one being higher miles and a year older, you should be able to get something comparable for around $33k unless the market has changed significantly in the last year (like $80k starting price for new trucks? lol).

The repairs mentioned above sound normal, no biggies. Overall these are pretty reliable engines until you start jacking with the tune and bend a piston rod. The towing power is amazing even without it.

One thing I hear people do is install a Titan fuel tank. The long beds have 37.5 gallon tanks, but the 6' beds only have 26 gallon tanks. Doesn't get you very far.

Good stuff--thanks.
I could be wrong in saying this, but it appears trucks sold in southern states bring higher value. I'd like to jump into a Lariat and still may do so considering what I would add to the truck above; with equivalent mileage, Lariats bring $43k-$45k.

I don't know how you intend to use your truck, but take a look at the payload rating on that F250 Diesel. That combination typically has a fairly low payload rating.

Thanks for your reply--you set me straight. I passed on the truck described above and picked up a 2016 Lariat w/ 58k. Dealer sold truck new, performed all service, and sold truck used. Doesn't look like previous owner towed or hauled as the bed and liner are spotless. Apparently, truck was driving from Gadsden, AL to Birmingham, AL daily. Truck smells new. Few $$$$$$$ more than the XLT above, but well worth it.

Payload capacity isn't too much of a concern, I use a Knaack box for work plus my truck box. I'll never push this truck to it's limits--it's overkill for what I do as I fall into the gray space between F150 and F250.

Congrats on the new truck. The 6.7's are a great engine and pull like a freight train.
