Default 2017 F350 (3) fog lights lenses cracked

Had new F350 delivered in late November, 2016. Mid summer of 2017 at 15,000 miles, we discovering a cracked fog lens on passenger side. A few weeks later, we bought a new fog light assembly from Ford for $290 and had them installed it. About three weeks later, we noticed the driver side lens was cracked. About three weeks after that, the replacement lens on the passenger side was cracked again.

All three cracked lens had almost identical horizontal cracks through them with no evidence of a stone chip.

Anyone else experience similar cracked fog lenses?

Why aren’t you going through the warranty process?

Default When not under warranty

AricsFX,

When I took truck in for an oil change, tire rotation and fog light replacement, warranty wasn't offered by Ford and my first thought was the lens cracked by a stone, so I didn't push the issue. Now having gone through three broken lenses and only replacing the first lens, and seeing no stone chip evidence on all three lenses, I thought I try the F150 Forum to see if this is a lens material problem, and if others experienced the same.

There's a recent thread somewhere around here. Quite a few got cracked lenses. I'm one of them. But right now they are very minor. Some people have theirs looking like Wolverine had a field day.

If I went thru that many sets, I would have gone with some aftermarkets like Rigid cubes.

But beware, there was a thread not long ago about fog lights blinding people as if a 737 was about to make landing.

Almost a year of using the fog lights, and so far no one has flipped their high beams or finger at me, indicating my lights may be too bright. So I can only think they are not causing any blinding problem.

Are you’re fog lights LED or halogen?

It appears there is a defect in the halogen lenses on the F-150s. People have had success getting them covered under warranty (myself included).

KG7BTU,
Looking at the pictures I've posted, I feel a very high level of confidence saying that they are the halogen bulbs.

I agree with you that there is some sort of defect, in either the material, design or production of these lenses.

With you and AricsFX suggesting that I try to get them warrantied, that is exactly what I'll try to do this week. And since I'm retired and can alway find time to sit at a dealer, wait and have some free coffee and cookies (and in some cases donuts) I'd be more than happy to go this route for replacement a long time, or until I start gaining weight....;-)

It looked like they were halogens, but I’m not familiar with the differences in the other F series trucks. The best theory is that heat from the bulbs combined with a design or manufacturing flaw are causing cracks in some lenses.

This is the most recent thread on the topic, it may link you to yet another (older) thread that talks about the same thing:
