Default Upfitter switches and Remote start install..

Well, it took me a little less than one hour to install the upfitter switches as well as the remote start on my super duty 2016.
Everything was plug and play. the only thing that took a little bit was locating exactly where to mount the relay box on the bottom of the steering column for the upfitter switches.
My friend has one of those little magic boxes that the dealerships use to flash your computer and he was able to flash mine for the remote start. took a little more than 5 minutes.
The remote start antenna plugs into the TPMS which is located above the headliner just left of the rear view mirror. So unscrew sun visor, remove driver "oh sh*t" handle, remove over head console and pull headliner down about 3". Once you see TPMS box, plug antenna into it. Reinstall console, visor etc. took about 15min

I'm completely baffled as to why the dealership told me it was a 2 hour install on the switches and a 2.5 hour install on the remote start plus an additional $65 to flash the computer for the remote start. They also said it will take about 45-60 minutes for the laptop to get the new remote start key to pass the ford security measures. Umm, yea, took my friend about 5 minutes to enable the remote start on the computer. Their shop rate is $115 per hour!
But don't forget it took 2 amateurs who had never ever done this before less than 60 minutes to install the switches and remote start.

I understand they have to make a profit. But how can they in good faith can they say it will take XXX amount of time but in reality it takes about 15-20% of the time they quoted you and still wanna charge you for the time they quoted? Isn't that theft?
It's one thing to say the fee is flat $200 for install and another to say it will take 2.5hrs..

I can't imagine the switch assembly taking more than a few minutes to install.

Finding exactly where to mount the relay box on the bottom of the steering column as what took the longest after that it was just a matter of fishing the wire from there the emergency brake pedal all the way over to the center of the console. I'm sure once you do one or two of these you know exactly where to mount everything and yes I'm sure it will take five or 10 minutes to do but definitely not 2.5 hours like they claim it would take

I probably over-simplified it, but I totally agree that the dealers get very overzealous with things like this. If its the selling dealer, you'd think they would do you a solid. That's the one thing that keeps bringing me back to my dealer of choice, they recognize my patronage and give me breaks on follow up service.
