DON'T do this on the newer trucks with emissions. On my 7.3 i used two stroke but with the emissions if you have an issue ford checks fuel quality and doing this will void the warranty. I went from a 6.7 to an ecoboost and I will soon be returning to a 6.7. Follow the oil life and change it when it is time according to the computer. Once a month check the water separator and I always had the dealership check it when I took it in for an oil change and had them notate the check on the service order. Change your fuel filters around 15k and buy the motorcraft ones, not the cheap ones, you get what you pay for. Don't shut down during a regen otherwise it will start all over the next time you fire it up. Enjoy!!!

DPF, diesel particulate filter catches all the soot coming out and depending on your driving/towing, the truck will go into regen when the filter is "clogging" up. One bank of the engine will inject more diesel to increase the egts to 1000 to clean the filter. When it goes into regen it will pop up on your screen for a couple of seconds so it is easy to miss. The easy way to see if it is still is in regen is by watching your mpg, it will drop to around 8 running empty down the hi way.

I have 250 miles on the ODO now and it just so happens that message popped up briefly. I was going to search for what that was supposed to mean. "Cleaning Exhaust Filter"

Need to spend some time with the diesel supplement manual. Oil changes, water filter drain monthly ( I do it more often), both filter changes, DEF, etc. not a big pain, but well worth the read.

Frequent some other ford diesel forums, lots of good info out there.

Yep I plan to do so. Only had the truck 2 days and just driving a lot because it is new and also want to get past the break in period.

I have to admit. When the pop up message came on I got tense thinking something bad as happening. Then I read the message and thought... Oh, okay. But then thought, exhaust filter??? Anyway I was just relieved something wasn't wrong. The Ecoboost problems have me a little on edge.

I had some issues with my 6.7 but I bought one of the first to hit the lots. I got one with the first batch of bad turbos, after I traded it off i got a letter from Ford wanting to replace it.

I really hope I have better luck with this truck / engine than I did with the Ecoboost. I really wanted to love that truck and keep it for many years. But the problems seemed unfixable from what I've been reading. Anyway, if the 6.7 let's me down that will be a bad blow because I won't be able to afford another trade in for a while.
