Gonna be at a state auction & theyve been selling for pretty good prices. But my question is, aside from just listening to them run, I am wondering how reliable the 6-0 & 7-3s have been or are & what else I should check for when I go the day before the auction. Never been a diesel owner before so diesel's are about 100% foreign to me but right now financed a brand new shiny f150 & personally I want something to own outright, something to call mine and I plan on hauling a 8-9lb gooseneck TT with it. And also how much should I keep saved up for an emergency fix, like the worst case scenario for if something goes wrong in the 6-0 or 7-3 or transmission. 4-5k? thanks in advance.

The late 90’s 7.3 is a workhorse. They just keep running but will need tranny/rear and maintenece to get it there. The 6.0 is much more problematic and complicated to work on. I’d say a 5k safety net is a good starting point for either rig.
