I think all the hubs on SuperDutys are manual, even today. The shifters are all that differ

By "manual" do you mean where you have to actually lock the hub itself, or do you mean a floor shifter for the 4x4?

The auto systems have electronic shift-on-the-fly (vacuum operated) but STILL have manual locking hubs if you choose to get out of the truck and engage them. Rarely have I heard of anyone needing to engage the hubs manually.

Manual by getting out of the truck and locking in the hubs.

I guess the original Q was if a 99 has electronic locking hubs... If it has the switch-on-the-fly dash control, then yes (electrically controlled vacuum valve, that is). Just like any other truck with switch-on-the-fly: turn the **** to 4x4 and it'll engage. But they are also manually lockable by getting out of the truck and using the hub itself.
