Thanks everyone for your input. I took the truck out for service this morning. Turns out the remote start functionality is installed even though it was not listed on the original window sticker. They programmed the remote to require several hits on the lock button to engage it. Truck cannot be driven without the key in it. So we got a free option. Kind of amazing that the remote got hit the right amount of times while rattling around in my wife's handbag - but then you can all imagine all of the crap that is in there.

I'd be pumped to find out that I had remote start if it wasn't supposed to be there haha

just out of curiosity, Did the horn honk after the multiple lock press?

I had to turn off that honk with Forscan.

SixShooter 14 - I believe that it did but I have to check that out. Wife would not pay anything extra for it but I like it for those early morning hunting trips. We live in the city and rarely even get to park on our block but it is handy at our vacation home.
Dealer said that it is the Ford product, not aftermarket. I guess since the remote didn't have the extra button they used the multiple lock hits like aftermarket products.

This is kind of scary for those that park in the garage. Truck accidentally starts without you knowing, causing carbon monoxide to get in the house.

Or, the prior owner has the cellular remote start and is screwing around... Remote has to get hit the right amount of times in the right period of time in her handbag. Well, if it happens again, you'll know.
