My friend bought a 2001 f350 with the 5.4 in it from a fire dept, they had put a crate motor from Napa in it but the trans went out so they sold it to him. Fast forward 2-3 years and it’s been sitting at his place as a future project. He offered to sell it to me, I went and checked it out and we were shocked to find chocolate milk on the dipstick, no coolant in reservoir. We were both shocked. How could this have happened? Any thoughts?

 

Cracked head, bad head gasket or cracked block.
If the ratio of water to antifreeze was off in the way of too much water that would explain it.
