A buddy of mine has an 02 Excursion with the 7.3. He has a Super Chips programmer and he gets 25MPG.

an xcal2/3 and a bigger exhaust. Dont expect a lot better mileage, the trucks prior to 2008 MY dont seem to digest the ULSD as well.

I put 4 inch, straight piped, turbo back exhaust. TS performance 6 Position chip. (run it on 75) and a napa 6637 air filter. My milage went from 13.5 to about 17 mpg's. This is a 2000 f-250 PSD crew cab 4X4 with service bed and lumber rack. (heavy truck)

guages, guages, guages!!!!!!before puttin a tuner,,which can change alot of parameters on a 7.3 It is highly recommended that the truck have EGT, Trans temp, and boost guages. In the diesel world,,,,the two most popular tuners would be Tony Wildman or contact DPtuner.com

being a former diesel owner, it should be in this order: 4" exhaust, new intake, gauges, then DP tuner. Don't really need the gauges until you start dumping extra fuel with a tuner, the intake/exhaust help cool down a stock truck's egt's pretty well.
