30 minute idle limit
I needed to get around the 30 minute idle on my Superduty trucks. Merlin's Fab I found had a unit that plugs into the SEIC/PTO connector that eliminates that. Plug and play. It is called "Idle On" I paid $375 for the plug and play one but you can save $100 by adding your own plug connector. Now it will idle until the tank is dry. You can also put in a simple switch for high idle with it.
Got the unit installed today and it works as advertised. No more shut off at 30 minutes of idling. Ran the extra wire provided on the module for high idle to an overhead aux switch in the overhead panel and now with the emergency brake on, flipping the switch to on increases idle by about 300 rpm. Have 1 more truck to get done now, a 2024. The 2023 is done. Trucks from 2022 and before will idle just fine all day if they have a key start. Any questions I had, called Kevin at Merlin's Fab and he was the one that answered the phone quickly himself. The unit I ordered came in about 3 days by mail. I don't think there is really any other way to get around the 30 minute shut off in any programming unlocked by Ford or Forscan. My dealer knew no other way to get rid of the idle limit. Idle On solved my problem.
Got the 2024 F-450 done now. Works perfect. Playing with the high idle. Put in park, set emergency brake, take foot off brake and flip overhead switch. About 5 seconds later, high idle starts and bumps it to right at 1000 rpm. If you put your foot on the brake, idle drops to 700 or so. Take your foot off the brake and cycle the switch again for high idle. I did not get the unit for this feature but it does work. The truck will idle until out of fuel now if I wanted to. My trucks are 7.3 gas engines. I am sure the high idle would be better for the diesel for long idle stretches and help with soot buildup.

I just got a '25 XLT SD Tremor w/ the 7.3 petrol guzzler. It's got a keyed ignition switch.
I may need one of these things.
Not that I wanna, cuz before any oil pressure software updates from FORD, insufficient idle oil pressure long term (60+ hrs/week, 50 weeks/year in work trucks so equipped) has wiped out a few cam lobes/lifters.
