2023 Hybrid Superduty
21 platinum powerboost owner here. have a superduty powerstroke on order because i bought a heavier boat that puts me right at the powerboost limit but with this bull**** of the massage seats being removed and the terrible around town non towing mpg i'm hearing about, I am leaning towards keeping my 150 platinum but i would love a hybrid super duty. I am in investment real estate and self manage my properties, I use the pro power onboard feature to run tools out of the bed of my truck a decent amount and times when i want to detail my boat it's a pain to find a place to park it that is in the shade where i dont need to run 300 ft of extension cord to my buffer, i love the plugging into the bed. If i were an rv guy, Id love being able to use my truck as a generator.
I towed my new boat back to tampa from alabama with a friends 350 dually and the mileage we got driving out ton the highway was a pathetic 13mpg and we got 10mpg on the way home towing the boat. Since i got home i've taken the boat out and gotten 8mpg with my powerboost hybrid towing it on the highway for 30 miles and when i'm not towing I get 24mpg on the hwy, not 13!!!! add to that that diesel is so much more expensive than 87 and I don't know that I'm going to take posession of this super duty when it comes in in a week or 2. the hybrid f150 is amazing, it pulls this new boat BETTER than my friends dually which i attribute to me having a 10 speed transmission and him having 6. it pulls off the line better and honestly the stopping feels equal. i'm not towing my boat daily, I'm towing it a couple times a month 10-30 miles tops and hope to maybe tow across the state or to the keys once or twice a year. if i knew i was pulling an 11k load daily, the super duty would be a no brainer but with working trailer brakes, I really dont know that I need it.

You didnt mention if your friends 350 was gas or diesel.
Either way, 13mpg out of a dually F350 is not unexpected. Just look at how much truck you are moving. The truck probably weighs 7,000 lbs EMPTY!.
You can't measure how good a tow rig is just by how fast it will pull a load. The PB has a ton of torque, so it will pull it very fast. That said, for pulling an 11k boat in Florida I can definitely believe the F150 does it fine. It would never be as stable as a F350, but Florida is flat. I think you will be fine towing that in Florida, even if you are up against or busting the limits of the F150.

Not gonna lie, there is a little.oart of me.that wants to be able to say "I have a super duty* but creature comfort wise, my 150 platinum is a far superior truck that was 67k new last year vs paying close to 90k for this super duty. One of my justificationa for the super duty is that I know it will hold value, I don't put a.lot of miles on my vehicles and it won't be towing all that often. I can definitely top dollar down the road plus I can probably get more in trade for my current truck than what I paid for it. People weren't really sold on the f150 hybrid and I think that's why I got a bit of a deal on it but now with all the high gas price talk, it's a.mich more appealing truck.
A Platinum SRW long bed curb weight is 8206 pounds. I looked at one the other day, 11,500 GVWR with 3294 payload. After seeing a couple now and they were all around 3300 payload, I decided I need a dually as I just sold my King Ranch with 3441 which was not enough. I will let someone else buy the truck I ordered, and I am more than likely going to have a 2019 F-450 Platinum in my garage tonight. Sadly I have to get rid of my F-150 to do this, but It just makes more sense to have 1 truck instead of two, and a truck capable of doing everything needed. Since the price gap between F-350 DRW and F-450 is so small and the turning radius is so much better in the F-450, its a no brainer. Funny thing, insurance is $6 more for the F-450 than for the F-350. I also contacted the SOS and asked about the D plates, as long as I don't exceed 12K I am fine.
I looked to see if I could find a DRW 17+ for under $45K which would allow me to fit it in the budget and keep my F-150, but the choices were bare XL or high miles over 200K. If it doesn't have the camera system and 5th wheel prep, it was out of the picture which left out most of the XL. The ones that did have them were over 100K miles. The market is ridiculous right now. At least the truck I am considering is at the very low end of the price range but still too high for what it is. Better than the $125K they are asking for 2022 models with miles on them, not even new.

If you do, do it quick as the market is changing and interest rates, AND banks are starting to crack down on these high dollar loans. I have excellent credit but had to provide all kinds of paperwork in order to lock in a loan on a used F-450. Normally I get the lowest rates available with 0 down, but on this one, the best I could get was 6.1% and that is due to it being an uncommon vehicle and the price. This is through my Credit Union too, Capital One does not finance anything over an F350, and a couple other banks came back wanting more money down.
This Superduties listing for over 100K now, will soon be dropping in price due to Interest rates and people having to spend more on essentials. The one I got last night is costing me $48 a month more than I was paying on 2 trucks, but after I change the insurance to replace both trucks with this, then I will actually be paying about $20 less per month. Kind of a wash in the end.
This truck I got originally was listed for 99,879, I got it for 91,749 with the taxes before trade. It was dropped over $11,000 in 40 days. I suggest if interested in certain trucks to put a price watch alert up and see how much they drop before being sold.
