Default 2001 f250 7.3 won't go in park.

Hey guys my uncle has an 01 f250 superduty and the gear shifter won't go into park. It just goes to reverse. Well I was told to look under the steering wheel I found the white tube deal that has the linkage in it. It's broke but I think there's something else bad or off adjustment also. Cause I can hold the linkage and make it go to park. But its really not in park. Thanks guys.

Ps. Its been like this for awhile he just has to put the park break on. When he parks.

Replace the shift tube. Requires partial removal of steering column.

There is something in the column that rubs and wears out. I have not had that problem but not been able to start in park and knocked lose the neutral safety switch on transmission which I just went under truck to plug back in. Also, the cable to dash change has come loose which is under dash.
