does anyone no if k&n makes a filter for the stock air box on a 08 6.4 diesel yet?

im sure they do, but the afe for the 6.4 has proven to be much better

Hands down the AFE is gonna be the best replacement unless you go with a full cold air intake. In that case I suggest S&B. But for best milage and performance gains I would remove the DPF filter. We dynoed one in Red Deer, Alberta and the DPF removal was 25hp to the wheel and 5mpg.

No, it's not legal to remove the DPF.
And Ford would probably void the warranty if you did.
