maybe some of this but you can never keep total tabs on a 14 yr old also, Chances are he was a troubled youth but what if the father was in bed after his night shift and the kid stole the keys off the kitchen counter while Dad is sleeping..

Not saying its not tied into possible bad parent but sometimes its not all the parents fault

Disagree. If he is stupid enough to do this, he is going to do the time. Even it is my flesh and blood.

Just saw that this morning and was wondering what speed he hit that truck with, why he was driving at all, and if the guy who chased him is being charged at all. 65-70mph doesn't seem like enough speed to rotate the bed 90 degrees in relation to the cab.

the boy must have hit the truck on the side. the truck may have had frame rust, which would make the frame twist more on impact. that truck is fkd up bad

Not familiar with this intersection specifically but my dad always taught me to clear the intersection before I go.... doesn't matter if it's green and I lawfully have the right away.... cuz of stupid kids like this I thank my dad for that lesson. Sone people think a green light is the flag waving at Daytona....SOME accidents like this can be avoided with a little defensive driving...
That being said that little **** was going to hit someone eventually and I don't know if the intersection had a hill or a blind spot too interfere with the deceased's view

Welcome to the new age of child rearing. Neither of my kids would do something as stupid as this. They understand consequences of actions.

Oh yeah.. My step father would come home with a different vehicle about 1 time every week. As he was Sales Mgr at a GMC dealership and well he would check out all the trade ins they got.

One week he and my mother went on vacation and left me home at 15 yrs old with a Formula Firebird in the driveway and the keys on the kitchen counter. Yep I sat and stared at the car, the keys, the car, the keys. For about an hour trying to figure out if I could get away with it. In the end I made the mature decision NOT to take it for a test ride. As I knew that it had a VERY recognizable dealer plate on the back of it and knew HE had A lot of friends in town and near our neighborhood that knew that plate well. As well as the Owner of the dealership and his family lived about 2 miles from us and could at any moment be driving within 1/4 mile of my house. Not to mention the CFO lived a neighborhood behind us... The "cons" kept piling up and up and up and it was the fact that I could be jeopardizing his job that made me realize how stupid it would have been to take that car for a ride. Of course I was mature for my age. But yeah the thrill of driving a sportscar for sure had bitten me as a 15 yr old. I'm just fortunate I had the where with all to think it thru to the end.

But yeah kids today live with near zero consequences. Least thats how I feel
