Tire Size Suggestion
Hi everyone,
Newbie to the site. I recently bought an '86 F150 XLT Lariat 2WD with a 351W & a C6 tranny. It has the original suspension and I just picked up a set of AR Outlaw II 15x7 rims. It's currently sitting on its factory 15" rims and 235/75 tires. I would like to go wider and taller with some BF Goodrich or similar. Any suggestions on tire size? |
35's! although they would probably not fit since even on my F250, my BF Good Rich all terrains on 16" american racing rims still rub.....

Tire Suggestions
Thanks! I would love to go with 35's but until I get my lift kit, I'm stuck. I would have liked to have gone bigger with the AR's but I got such a good deal on them ($250.00 for all four still in the box!) that I couldn't pass it up.
I did some more digging yesterday and it looks like 30/9.5/15 will be about as big as I can go without rubbing. |
Wow that is a deal! But those tires would be your best bet. On my 250 I have those front leafs that the tires rub when I take a tight turn. But I think the reason why they rub is because I don't have a solid front axle anymore so they are probably not as wide ( previous owner replaced with f150 half axles)
But I'm not sure with 2wd how much room you do have |
i have 31x10.5 on my 83' with no lift and there's still plenty of room, could probably fit 33's if i wanted to...however mines a 4x4, not sure if that would make a difference

But remember he has a 2wd. Don't they sit a little lower in the front end?
|
yeah probably...but noting a $60 leveling kit won't take care of

Thanks for the advice! I'll post pics once I get the new rims/tires mounted.
I proposed to my girlfriend this weekend and she says "Thank you so much for my ring. So do I get you an engagement gift?" I believe engagement tires will do just fine honey...just fine. |

Pics
Thankfully, my truck is level. But it seems this was the "country gentleman's pickup". Suspension is soft all the way around. I am giving some thought to putting F-250 springs on the front and adding a leaf to the rear.
Do you guys have any pics of your truck? Husky, how is your overhead console coming? That's a badass idea btw! |
