Stepside bed on a short bed frame?

Stepside bed on a short bed frame?

I'm thinking about getting a 1985 project F150 and I was wondering if you could put a stepside bed on a short bed frame? Any and all input would be appreciated, thanks.

im no expert on this, but im pretty sure that from 80-86 as well as 92-96 all the stepsides were shortbeds so it should be a perfect fit.
