Radiator reservoir
I have a 1985 i6 and I just want to know if it has a radiator reservoir or not. There is a box on the driver side that says washer fluid only, but it looks like it is divided in two and there is what looks like a hole on the bottom of it. The reason I ask is there is a hose running from the top of the radiator just under the cap, across the top of the radiator, to the driver side fender and is just laying there. I've read a mixture of it could be a drain hose, go to a reservoir, or go somewhere else. There is only one small hose so I don't think it's the one people are saying cap off
Note: I have not owned it very long and am changing all the fluids before the first time driving it since initially getting it, and know next to nothing about it or vehicle engines in general. Thanks for any responses!

Right, there is 2 sections to that washer tank, and the 2nd section is the coolant overflow
There should be a little thin wall hose running from the radiator cap filler neck to the overflow tank portion of the washer tank
There is a little dent / hole for the hose to go through

It takes a small funnel, fill the tank 1/2 way with coolant
Put enough of the hose in the tank to reach the bottom of the tank
Enjoy that 85, the old ones outlast the new ones,
The 6 pop will go just about forever and then need only timing gears someday
Your carb on that 4.9 needs to be rebuilt once in a while with a new power piston diaphragm / accelerator pump and hose
They run pretty good with a decent working carb

Thanks so much, and I hope to be able to enjoy it. it's only been after recent reading that I've started to grasp that it's a good engine. I'm not proud to admit it but I've kind of just let it sit for a while. So I figured it'd be best to change all the fluids before doing anything with it. The oil was definitely in need. But mainly, I was just confused with the radiator hose so thanks again.
Right, do a 30k service to it so you have a baseline on maintenance
That is replacing all the fluids and all the filters, pack the hubs if 4x4, basic bearing pack if 4x2 with new seals, inspect brakes, lube window channels and felts, lube all the doors, trunk and tailgate hinges.
You should still be able to get Motorcraft stuff for it even if NOS on Ebay
