I have had a few I6's and like said before.. The are THE BEST engine ford made. They are so reliable. I loved mine. It overheated on me when i blew a hose on the high way and locked up. I changed the plugs and wires fixed the hose and the thing fired right up. Drove it for another year and sold it. The only reason its not on the road now is because the guy i sold it to totaled it. I have seen guys mud with 36's and plenty of torque. They are power houses.

yeah i went mudding with my truck got 19mpg highway and back roads (hills) on the way to the mudding spot and beat the hell out of the truck and still drove it home. had bed full of wood and my spare tire on the way up and while mudding. i got 31's on it now and can spin the tires easy yet. i am thinking about bigger tires. i found some bfg at 33's with 200miles on them for like 500 but yeah what can i say i bought mine for 300$ on craigslist basically new. but yeah i love my i6.
i will be driving my truck down the road with just the frame and bench seat and engine will keep on a chugging

My 84 has the 300 six and auto trans in it and that was the main reason why I got it. A few years ago I had a 1980 E-150 van with the same drive line as my truck and I was sold on it back then. I rarely ever had to fix it and I drove it all the time. All I did was routine maintenance on it and it was great on gas. Only reason I ever sold it was due to lack of room to park all the toys I had at the time. I figure that the 84 I have now will probably have the body fall off before the motor ever quits since it's only got 73k on it! It may not be the fastest thing on the road but I really don't care. If I'm not going fast enough for everyone else, they can pass me and I'll be laughing when I see them stopped by the flashing blues!!!!
