Progress.... well, sort of
Hey everyone! I finally got the truck running. I got a defective solenoid so round two and she fired right up. I've been doing a lot of looking at potential future projects and I'm excited to dive in. So the sort of part is that I got the truck running last night but when I came out this morning to start it, nothing. I've got a short somewhere I'm guessing. I replaced fusible links and found a blown fuse. When I was tearing into the solenoid and starter issue I put my meter on the positive cable and the chassis and I got a resistance. If I remember right it was up in the k or M range but I did get a path. I've heard some say that's normal and others say it's not. I'm looking into converting to the duraspark II and get rid of a lot of the vacuum and electrical crap on there. I'm half tempted for now to just put a battery disconnect on and use that to keep the battery from draining. Just a stop gap measure. I'm also looking at putting on new cab mounts which doesn't sound fun but needs to be done. I'd like to do it with the cab on but I have a lot of floor work to do before I tackle that project. You guys have been helping me a lot as I read old posts. I really appreciate the assistance. I'm just learning but I'm having fun. I'm looking at a short road trip this weekend down to my buddy's cabin. Maybe even try out the 4wd. Sorry to ramble on but I just wanted to drop an update. Any thoughts on the battery drain? Thanks.
