You're welcome. I think it was 1981 when they went to a standardized 17 digit V.I.N. format.

Well after decoding it I have realized that this truck was meant for me to find and rebuild. My wife was born in 1976 so I've been looking for a 1976 truck. We are both from the Virginia Beach area in Virginia however we now live in North Carolina. It is a 76 F-250 it had a 360 2 Barrel in it. It was built in Norfolk Virginia and it was the 76th truck built for the year. So I am glad to own this truck and I will be proud to build this truck.

Wow!! It's pretty cool what you can find out about these vehicles. If you're serious about it you can order a "Marti Report" and it will tell you all types of interesting facts about what the truck was when it was born.
I found out mine is one of 75 built with my color and trim codes and was built on my 9th birthday in 1978.

more than likely I will get the marti report but here is a breakdown of my vin F25YNA00076

f = Ford
25 = 250 pickup
Y = 360 2 brl
N = Norfolk VA assembly plant
A00076 = sequential production number (started at A00000)
so it was the 76th truck built in Norfolk in 1976
