limited options with seized powersteering pump.
Hey fellas. Im hopefully getting a 1978 F150 Ranger longbed with 351M and c6.
However, the power steering pump is seized since the seals in the steering box are gone. Is it possible to unseize the pump in the guys driveway?
OR
I also have a 78 Ford LTD with the 351M, and was thinking about borrowing the cars pump and belt to get the truck home. I guess what Im asking is, do the pumps use the same mounting holes? The pump on the car is the tear drop shape and the one on the truck is the other kind.

Why mess with it until you get it home? I would think you should be able to drive it without power steering. Unless something else is broken in the steering a seized pump will just make it hard to turn but not impossible.

because without the powersteering pump turning, I cant turn the water pump. It acts like an idler for the fan belt on the 351M.
I suppose I can rig up an idler with an old lawnmower pulley to keep the belt tight...
