There are three bell housing patterns used by Ford on the C6 transmission... FE (1970's; looks round), SBF (1980's; small gap on top bolt holes) and BBF (long gap on top bolt holes). So yes, small block Fords share the same bell housing bolt pattern. IIRC there are a couple bolt holes that you won't use on the 4.9L I6. A big block Ford has a different pattern as do the FE engines of the 1970's.
