Hello, I'm new to the forum, and I have a question I have a 1985 F-150 that is 4x4, and a 2 wheel drive truck my buddy has tht is for parts, and it is a 1980 and I was wondering if the frame on a 2 wheel drive is the same as a 4 wheel drive frame...

as far as I have been told they are the same. I have a 2wd and a 4wd F150 for parts (drivetrain) and I plan a swap when I get more than 2 minutes of spare time. Chevy, on the other hand uses different frames from what I have been told.

No personal experience, but I suggest that the odds are way better than average that the frames are the exact same since they're from the same generation truck.

I would find a 4x4 frame that is too much work to do to find out it will not do what you want. I worked in a 4x4 and fabrication shop. So it was no big deal for us to change a 2wd to a 4wd. Doing it in your garage at home so to speak is alot diffrent. There are a ton of good 4wd trucks in salvage yards. I would look into that.

I'm not trying to make a 2wheel drive a 4x4.. I just need a SECTION OF A FRAME cut..
