Default Fuel Delivery Issues

Hey there everyone,

So I seem to not be getting fuel to the carb. The fuel pump works, there is plenty of gas in the tank, the filter is clear but I cannot get the pump to delivery anything to the carb and the truck will not run unless there is somebody nursing fuel into it.

I was suspecting a restriction in the lines but it appears that they are all clear. The fuel lines are entirely metal lines except for 3 junctions; a rubber tube from the carburetor to the filter, from the fuel pump inlet to the beginning of the metal lines (approx 4 inches of tube) and from the end of the metal line another 3 or so inches to the tank. The lines appear to be in good repair and do not have any visible cracks.

It is important to note that I was driving the truck when it began to sputter and then died and has not been able to idle under it's own power since. I am at a complete loss here and I have no idea where to begin to look. I have replaced the pump 2 separate times and neither pump appears to work.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Maybe something has happened to the cam(offset egg shape piece) that operates the fuel pump lever.

I thought that as well, but the pump blows air. It's functioning as normal. It just can't seem to pull fuel from the tank.

It would appear then that the pipe inside the tank has fallen off or is plugged. Have you got a compressed air tank and air gun where you can blow into the tank through the fuel pump hose? If you then take the filler cap off the tank and listen while someone operates the air gun, you should hear gurgling or air or nothing if the hose is plugged and didn't open.

I would suggest taking a piece of fuel line and putting it on the metal line in place of that 3" piece at the tank. Then put the other end into a full gas can and see if the pump picks up fuel.
If so you have to drop your tank and inspect the pickup in the tank.
If not, then maybe inspect all your lines and connections to make sure there's nowhere that the pump could be sucking air. If it can pull air easier than pump fuel, that's what it will do.
