Default Ford 4.9 Custom Intake Manifold

Hey all, I'm thinking about switching the 1bbl carb on my 85 F150 to a 4bbl carb. First off, as I am not around my truck for a while too measure, what is the size of the tubing that I should purchase to match the size and shape of the intake ports on the head? Are there any other things I need to keep an eye out for when doing this conversion?

Eh, not really. Its just that most of the people who own this era of truck are more in the "Keep it alive" mode than upgrading. How much do yo think it will cost to build? There are bolt on intakes that will be cheaper in my opinion. Plus you can use this information as a guide.

I was going to just pick up some steel tubing and weld together a very rudimentary intake, in order to keep costs low, and more importantly function well enough to get rid of the cursed feedback carb. I haven't seen too many bolt on intakes for a low enough price to justify it, since the truck its for is in its infant stages of a low budget 'restoration'. Emphasis on the quotations. With the cost of steel tubing at a nearby metal recycling plant I can probably get it for around $30. My welding skills are just functional enough to get this to work I think. As far as the forum goes I must just have bad luck because most of my posts seem to go unanswered.

In a fashion... I got lucky and found a similar product to this on ebay for a little under $200 and decided to just pull the trigger on that and save me the time. I know, not the answer you were hoping for!
