Default F150 4x4 swap

I have a 1986 Ford F150 2 wheel drive and tonight I bought a 1987 F150 4 wheel drive. I want to take the 4 wheel drive components and suspension out of the 87 and put in the 86. Any difference in frames to prevent this from happening? Skill set is not a problem. I want your input. I have not put a tape measure on them yet.

You'd be MUCH better off fixing the '87 & letting the '86 go.

Without more details about EACH truck's exact configuration & condition, we can't give you anything more than guesses. Click this & read the caption:

Steve83.....you put that on every damn post. You must copy and paste. What more information could I give you? One is 2wd and the other is 4wd. I want to take the 4wd out of the 87 and put it under the 86.

Then do it - why ask here? Just go ahead & swap them. Good luck!

I think what Steve is saying, is you have 2 trucks, and you should assess the condition of both to see which parts to use from each. If the cab on the 4wd is in good shape, then I would swap over all the better stuff from the 2wd. Body parts, motor etc... Much easier.
