Default Carb courious?

Just was courious about my carb on my 1982 F-150 4x4 302 v8.The fuel seems to drain from the carb after sitting for even a day and require a few more seconds to fire.It fires immediatly after only sitting a few hours. It isn't a problem as much as it is a couriosity for me. It runs exceptional no idle issues or driveability issues so it's just a wonder to me. I don't want to rebuild the carb, it runs fine. Why does it drain back and feel like it takes the few extra seconds to fill up the bowel?.Thanks.

Can you see it draining? My guess would be evaporating enough from the hot engine to drop the level in the fuel bowl. If it is "leaking" back, you might want to check all of your fuel lines or the fuel pump on the side of the engine. If it's the original mechanical fuel pump, the internals might be loose enough to allow the fluid to go backwards. Hydraulic vaccuum is stronger than pneumatic vaccuum so it could possibly pull fuel from your carb I suppose.

Thanks. No apparent fuel leaks and it may well be a normal thing plus i remember the truck is 32 years old and it's the original carb. I'll research and come back when i find out some thing. It may well be just the way it is.It isn't a problem really the truck runs great(after the whole summer chasing vacuum lines and various other needs to invent new cuss words for).lol. thanks gentlemen.

probably wouldnt be a bad idea to put a new fuel pump on..they are dirt cheap and very easy to change
