Bought a 86 f150 need help please

I bought a 86 f150 been in a barn since 1999.. I replaced all the plugs wires cap and rotor .. they drained the tank before parking... so I added some new gas to tank ... the fuel pump runs when you turn the key but I only get air on the sheader valve when I try to prime the pump .. the engine runs when you spray gas in plennum .. but stalls and won't run on its own gas...so my question is where do I go next...

Note... it's the front tank ... and there was allitle gas left in tank

Are you sure the dash tank select switch is set to front tank?
You probably need to add several gallons.

You might have to remove the line from the carb/fuel rail and let the pump run till gas comes out.

Mine did the exact same thing once. It took me forever to find the problem. It turned out to be a bad ground on one of the wires running to the negative battery terminal. Not the large wires either. It was one of the small ones.

I recommend you put 5 gal of high-test in each tank to up the octane level.

Use your OBD1 test connector to run your pumps continuously for a minute or two, while checking your Schroeder Valve. You may eventually need to measure the pressure.

Do you get a fuel level reading for each tank ?
