Default 86 cluch/shifting issues

I have an 86 f250 with the 460 and a 4 speed manual. I know it's not an f150 but maybe you guys can help..?

The clutch pedal just started to feel very soft and kind of stick half way up when I release it(I can pull it up the rest of the way with my foot) and it's occasionally really hard to get in and out of gear. Any ideas?

Master cyl going bad
Slave cyl going bad
Throw out bearing going bad
Not sure if 250s are like 150s but the firewall would crack around the master cyl mounting bolts.

Anyway you should have a leak around the bad part. Could be on the inside firewall if its clutch master cyl.

Thanks for the reply!

I filled up the master and that cured it. So should I change the master and slave cylinders? I also read about the firewall cracking thing and found a bracket kit thing that fixes it. Any idea how hard itd be to install the kit. Or if I should do it even if the firewall isn't cracked yet?

I wouldnt change anything if it doesnt need changed. As far as the fire wall plate, if you can float it, i would just buy it and hang on til you change the mc. It can be a pita to do if you have any size to you trying to work under the dash.

Back to your problem. Did you find where you were loosing fluid from?

Have someone work the clutch pedal and watch the mc mounting location on the fire wall. You can see it flexing.

See this video for what a small amount of excess firewall motion looks like, it's called "oil-canning"
